Do you like to walk for exercise? How about running? Does this sultry summer heat get you down? Maybe what you need are ideas for shady places to walk or run through the summer months.
Taking outdoor walks in the springtime is the preferred exercise for many Central Alabamians, and they start with a lot of enthusiasm just after winter ends and they look forward to being outside in the sunshine. Flowers in bloom, grass growing green again, and being back in short-sleeved shirts are all welcome after the February and March chill and April showers. Walks are a great way to shake off the winter blues, but…
Soon enough Summer creeps in and the afternoon heat becomes just unbearable. Even in the mornings the southern humidity can make the temperature feel 10 degrees hotter. That is when folks like you need a guide like me to point out safe paths with as much shade as possible.
Try walking or running in Brent. The sidewalks are a little-used benefit just waiting for you to enjoy. Lining both sides of the road, the morning sun is blocked by trees lining the east side for amazing shade! You can find this bit of luxury on the sides of Main Street, from University Way south toward the junction at Highway 5.
More specifically, try Saturday mornings on the East side of the road if you like shade. And drop me a message to let me know how it goes!
